Here are some tips for parents on supervising child's homework:
1. Set up a regular routine or schedule for homework time and try to stick to it as much as possible. Ideally set 7pm to 8pm as Homework / Study hour during school days.
2. Provide a quiet and comfortable homework environment free from distractions. Ideally away from the television.
3. Ensure the child has all the necessary materials needed for the homework.
4. Encourage the child to take short breaks, especially if they seem distracted.
5. Be available to answer questions and provide help as needed, but encourage the child to solve problems on their own first. Please don't provide answers if you are not sure.
6. Teach your child to break down tasks into smaller, manageable steps.
7. Praise and encourage the child for their effort and progress, rather than just their grades.
8. Empower the child to take responsibility for their own learning and homework.
9. Try to avoid doing the child's homework for them, as it defeats the purpose of learning.
10. Communicate regularly with teachers to ensure that you are aware of your child's progress and any challenges they may face.
