In a bid to foster cross-cultural exchange and collaboration, Riverside Academy in Ghana has embarked on a meaningful partnership with Boughton Leigh Junior School (BLJS), located in the historic town of Rugby, UK. This exciting collaboration was initiated following a recent visit by Joel Kwaku Abeseabe, the School Business Manager of Riverside Academy, to their school in Rugby, UK.
During his visit, Mr. Joel Abeseabe introduced Riverside Academy and the vibrant culture of Ghana to the students and staff of Boughton Leigh Junior School during a special assembly. In a heart-warming gesture, Riverside Academy presented culturally significant artifacts, enriching the educational experience at Boughton Leigh. In honour of this collaboration, a special display named “School Partnership” has been created within the school. BLJS reciprocated Riverside Academy’s warm gesture by presenting Riverside Academy with a replica sports jersey and a rugby ball, symbolising the spirit of unity, and commemorating the town’s iconic place in British history.
Mr. Abeseabe also spent quality time interacting with the students, immersing himself in their daily school routines, and fostering connections between the two schools. Valuable discussions were held with the PSHE coordinator and Assistant Headteacher, Charlotte Cox, and her team, to outline the strategies for this promising collaboration.
Beyond the initial cultural exchange, Riverside Academy and BLJS aspire to join hands in various joint activities, further cultural exchanges, and mutual support. This collaboration marks a significant step towards global awareness and understanding, with the overarching aim of training global citizens who appreciate and respect diverse cultures. Importantly, this initiative is fully in line with Riverside Academy’s educational philosophy of promoting the rich Ghanaian culture.
Alfred Gand, a dedicated board member serving both schools, was actively involved in this partnership.
The future for this cross-cultural exchange program is exciting, with the promise of fostering greater international understanding and global citizenship among students from both institutions.
