Updated: Jul 4

Date: July 3, 2024

Location: Riverside Academy, Ghana

On July 3, 2024, Riverside Academy partnered with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for a comprehensive fire safety training session. This collaborative effort aimed to enhance community ties and provide essential fire safety knowledge and skills to students, teachers, and staff.

The training session covered important topics such as understanding different types of fires, using various fire extinguishers, proper rescue procedures, and safe evacuation techniques. Participants learned how to assess fire situations, use fire safety equipment effectively, and assist individuals in distress. The training also emphasized the importance of home fire safety tool and equipment, keeping exits clear, and adhering to fire safety policies.

A highlight of the event was the practical demonstration, where Upper Primary and Junior High School students and staff had the opportunity to use fire extinguishers to put out a live fire under the supervision of GNFS officers. This hands-on experience reinforced the theoretical knowledge shared during the session.

Joel Kwaku Abeseabe, Riverside Academy's School Business Manager, appreciated the GNFS for reaching out to the school and ensuring the students are prepared to navigate emergencies. He highlighted that this collaboration not only enhances safety preparedness but also provides students with invaluable knowledge that will serve as a lifetime tool as members of the community.
